Permissions to use Meta Lead Ads with AdvocacyAI

Ensure you’re ready to connect your Meta leads to the platform.

For fast-moving campaigns where high volume is important, utilizing Meta’s Native Lead ad allows users to take action on your campaign without even leaving their feed.

✅ Confirm Full Control of Your Meta Business Assets

To integrate Meta Lead Ads with AdvocacyAI, you must have complete control over:

  • Your Meta Business Manager
  • The Facebook Page(s) you're using for lead generation
  • The Ad Account(s) where you’re running the Lead Ads

This means: Admin access across the board, with leads access.

🔐 Required Permissions Checklist

Here’s a breakdown of the exact access you need for every Facebook Page you plan to connect:

  • ✔️ Admin access to the Facebook Ad Account
  • ✔️ Admin access to the Facebook Page
  • ✔️ Lead Access granted to the page in Business Manager

📘 Meta’s Instructions for Access (With Links!)

For everything to work behind the scenes, Meta requires a few specific setups:

  1. 🔗 The Facebook Page must be part of a Business Portfolio
  1. 👤 Your Facebook account must be added to the Business Portfolio that manages the Ad Account and Page
  1. 🧰 You must have Full Control Access to all assets you’re connecting

These settings allow AdvocacyAI to receive leads through Meta’s API.

🧩 What is “Lead Access” and How Do I Grant It?

Lead Access is what tells Facebook who’s allowed to download or sync leads from your forms.

To assign Lead Access:

  • Go to Meta Business Manager
  • Navigate to Integrations > Lead Access
  • Click the CRMs tab
  • Assign AdvocacyAI (or your system user) as an authorized recipient of leads
💡 View the full Meta lead ads integration setup guide.

To check your permissions:

The most common reason for not being able to connect is due to the fact that the user does not have the correct permissions, both Business Settings AND Personal Facebook settings.  Please ensure the below are checked and set correctly in your Business Settings and Personal profile settings before you contact us.

Under Facebook Business Settings

1. Account > Pages

You should be listed under People. To avoid any problems, we advise Full Control permission.

2. Account > Ad Accounts

You should be listed under People under the specific Ad Account. This permission does not appear to be required however to avoid any problems, we advise Full Control permission.

3. Integrations > Lead Access

Note, once you have connected your campaign to the Facebook Form, the App will appear under the CRM section as a "Connected CRM".

🗨️ If you update your Facebook Lead Ads permissions, you must reconnect your account to AdvocacyAI.
