Start here to learn about the process of creating Actions in AdvocacyAI.
🤔 What Are Actions?
Actions are the core feature in the system that allow you to engage with your advocates.
All action types will collect new advocate contact records in your system. Emails, Letters, Calls, Socials, and Staff Emails will also connect the advocate with your selected targets (elected officials or staff) through their submission.
🎯 Different Action Types
- 📧 Emails: Allow advocates to email their elected officials directly with content you provide.
- 📫 Letters: Allow advocates to hand-sign letters based on content you provide. Letters are collected and can be printed and mailed or used for in-person lobbying on behalf of advocates.
- AdvocacyAI now offers printing and mailing of letters in handwritten envelopes on your behalf, saving you time. If you are interested in this, contact us at help@advocacyai.com.
- ☎️ Calls: Direct advocates to click-to-call their elected officials' offices with a script you provide.
- 📱 Socials: Currently X (formerly known as Twitter) is supported. This allows supporters to tweet at their elected officials by mentioning their username and tweeting with content you supply.
- ❔ Surveys: Enable you to collect different responses from advocates regarding issues that important to them. Organizations use surveys for sign ups, polls, membership applications, and more. These do not send directly to elected officials via the system.
- 🗣️ Stories: Allow you to collect written or video stories from advocates. These do not send directly to elected officials, so you can review the content before either reaching out to advocates for further engagement, including in your organization’s content, or passing along to representatives based on your campaign needs.
- ✍️ Petitions: Allow advocates to sign a petition you are collecting. These do not send directly to elected officials, but are used to acquire new supporters with a focus on volume only. Petition signer count can be used as a metric of support for your issue in your media relations, social content, rapid response, or direct lobbying.
- 📧 Staff Emails: Allow you to send an email directly to staff members of elected officials. You can search staff members by role, chamber, party, their elected official and committees that they are a part of.
🧩 What is Included in Actions?
The following components make up your Actions, allowing you to create and edit the Action, customize the advocate experience, set up tracking and analytics, promote your Action, and review advocate engagement and data. Read more about each one below:
Action Widget
The embeddable interface that your advocates will interact with. The Action Widget will show the advocate the content you have created for them and allow them to take action.

Action Set Up Page
The main hub for your action, which provides a high level overview of settings, integrations, and most recent advocates. From here, you can edit your Action Widget, create an Action Landing Page, and review the Action Analytics Page.

Action Widget Settings
The place where you can edit the details, targets, content and settings of your Action Widget.

Action Landing Page
An external page that can be created to promote your action. Landing Pages include your Action Widget, in addition to text and images that you can include to support your message and expand on your call to action. You can create endless Landing Page variations to A/B test messaging for different audiences.

Action Analytics Page
The place where your team can review the metrics of your Action, including advocate information and demographics, targets, content variations, results and conversion tracking.
