How can we help? 👋

Overview of Advocates

Learn the basics about your Advocates in the system

Advocates are what the system calls your person records. These are the people who submit through a Campaign or are in your Email or Text programs.

Within the Advocates section of the system, you can view, search, and Tag your Advocates in the system. To learn more about Audiences, Tags, and Gamification, visit the linked Help Docs below.

Creating Advocates

Advocates are added through two different workflows: Uploads under Account and submissions through a Campaign.

To learn more about how to Upload, visit this help document.

To learn more about Campaigns, visit this help document.

Viewing an Advocate’s Record

To view a one-off Advocate’s record, you will need to navigate to the Advocates tab, and then the Advocates section.

In the top section, you can see some quick counts of your Advocates and the Actions taken.

To navigate to an Advocate record, there are filters below the stats section of the page to allow you to narrow to the Advocate you’d like to view: Date, Campaign, and Search.

Date allows you to search for records created. Campaign allows you to filter to advocates that took an action in a specific Campaign. Search allows you to search by First Name, Last Name, or email address.

Advocate Record Overview

After selecting the name of the Advocate, you will be taken to the details of the Advocate. The order of the sections on an Advocate cannot be reordered.

Advocate Actions

The Actions overview of an Advocate looks similar to other overviews you see in the system. In this system, it is a summary of the number of Campaigns and Actions taken by the Advocate, and then broken down by Campaign Type.

💡

The Points section will only populate with a value other than zero if you are utilizing the Gamification feature

Further details of which Campaigns that the Advocate has engaged in can be viewed in the sections below.

The Campaigns section will display the Campaigns that the Advocate has submitted through. In this example the Advocate submitted through one Campaign, which submitted 18 emails (Actions) to the matched Elected Officials for the Email Campaign.

You can then see the emails that went to each Elected Official in the Sent Emails section. Other Campaign Types (e.g. Call, Social, Survey) each have their own section so that you can see the Actions within them when applicable.

Advocate Details

The Advocate Details include the necessary contact details of the advocate. This includes Name, Address, Email, Phone, and Email Opt-In Status. If you do not see an option for an Advocate, this means that there is not a value for that contact information in the system.

✍️

The Advocate Details section is read-only. An Advocate can update their contact information through a Campaign submission. You can update the contact information through an upload. In both instances, the email will need to match.

Tags and Custom Field Answers

Within these sections, you are able to see any Tags or Custom Fields that have been applied to the Advocate. To learn more about Tags, visit this help document. To learn more about Custom Fields, visit this help document.

✍️

The Tags and Custom Field sections are read-only. You can add Tags or Custom Fields to an Advocate through an upload. Advocates can also have Tags or Custom Fields added through a Campaign submission.

Advocate Location and Elected Representatives

Based on the Advocate’s address, you will be able to see their location and elected representatives. These can only be edited by updating the address. The elected representatives will display the Senators, House of Representatives, State Senator, and State House.

💡

In rare situations where an Advocate lives near or on the border of two districts, the elected representative may not match what you expect. Be sure to check official websites for that address before reaching out to help@advocacyai.com. For these individuals, it is possible for the congressional lookup site and the Secretary of State’s website to have differing results, which means we will be unable to change the result in the system. Again, this is rare and only applies to Advocates on the border of two districts.

Voter History

The system automatically pulls in Voter History for the Advocate. Note that this data is pulled from public sources. All Voter History may not be available or displayed depending on what is currently available through these public sources.

Audience Memberships

🆕

You now can see all of the Audiences in the system to which the Advocate has membership! You can see the Name, Description, and when the Advocate was added. To gain further insights into how the Advocate compares to the rest of the Audience, simply click the Name field to get to the Audience Insights page!
