UTM Codes

Learn about more advanced tracking of engagement on your Actions.

UTM Codes

UTM codes are tracking tags that you add to your Campaign links to measure the effectiveness of your different channels for engaging your advocates and supporters. Think of them as invisible labels that tell you exactly how supporters found and engaged with your Campaign online.

UTM codes can be more of an advanced feature and are entirely created and managed externally. It is a best practice to have consistent UTM codes across your different forms of digital engagement beyond just AdvocacyAI. If you are already utilizing UTM codes on other links like your donation forms, you can and should utilize them within the AdvocacyAI system!

After creating your Campaign, you can then add your UTM codes to your Campaign’s URL by appending the query string to the URL ?utm_source=Meta_TXActions_Audience5_TX_Creative6

✍️

AdvocacyAI is unable to provide any consultation on best practices for naming convention or use of UTM codes.

💡

Where can I see my UTM codes? After advocates have submitted to the Campaign URL with a UTM code, you can see the results in the Conversion Tracking section on the Analytics page of your Campaign. (Learn more about the Analytics page in our help document coming soon!)

UTM source data is available in the main Advocate export. Navigate to the Advocates tab and export your advocate list to see which UTM source each advocate originated from.
