A Voter Registration Verification Action lets advocates check their voter registration status and review their election details.
🗳️ What Is a Voter Registration Verification Action?
A Voter Registration Verification Action is a campaign that walks advocates through verifying their voter registration status. Here's what makes it useful:
- Advocates can check their registration status in real time.
- It surfaces their election details automatically (elections they're eligible for, early voting and polling location details, and ballot information).
- You can prompt them to confirm and set a reminder.
- Every submission is tracked.
⚙️ Let’s Build Your Voter Registration Setup
Make sure you are logged in to your AdvocacyAI account. On the navigation bar, locate the "Vote" section and click on "Vote" to open the Vote Campaigns overview. Then click "New Registration" from the quick actions in the sidebar.

There are two steps to launch a voter registration verification campaign:
- Setup (Step 1): configures the campaign details.
- Form (Step 2): customizes the action form your advocates will interact with.
✍️ Set Up Your Action Details
The Setup Step is where you will name your action, set relevant dates, select an election, and choose additional data options like setting up tags and DistrictMatch.

Fill out the following details to begin the set up your voter registration verification action:

- Name: The public name of your voter registration action.
- Brand: If your account has access to multiple brands, you can select your chosen brand in this step.
- Languages: If your account has access to multiple languages, you can select your chosen languages in this step.
- Internal Notes: For your team only — not shown to advocates and not used by Ada.
Ada-Drafted Content: Turn this option on to have our AI, Ada, draft the advocate-facing copy for you. When it's on, a new field appears. Open this toggle to learn more.
- Information for Ada: Give Ada key context about your campaign: state(s) you're targeting, eligibility rules, registration deadlines, ID requirements, tone, and intended audience. The more detail you provide, the better Ada's draft will be.
- Start Date: Advocates cannot take action before this date.
- End Date: Advocates cannot take action after this date. You can specify a date and time when the action will close. Toggle on Ongoing Registration if you don't want an end date, which keeps the action open indefinitely.
Select or create tags to automatically apply to every advocate who submits the form through this action. Useful for segmenting your voter outreach audience later.

Choose one or more elections for this voter registration verification check. If you leave this option empty, the system automatically matches each advocate with the next available election in their state. If no election is available, it falls back to the upcoming state primary or general election.

Enable DistrictMatch automatically matches each advocate to their districts and elected officials based on the address they enter.

When you’re happy with the set up details, click the "Next: Customize Form" button at the bottom of the page.
🎨 Customize Your Action Form
Advocates will use the Voter Registration Verification Form to enter their information, review election details, and set reminders. As you make changes, you can preview the form on the right side of your screen.

Form Branding and Design
Templates: If you have access to AdvocacyAI Templates, select an existing template before editing your copy.

Legacy Editor: If you are using the AdvocacyAI Legacy Form editor, use the Form Colors section to customize the colors of your form.

Use the options below to customize the text shown to advocates in the form:

- Call To Action Header: The bold headline at the top of the widget.
- Call To Action Title: A subtitle or short intro line.
- Call To Action Body: The main instructions. Be clear about what advocates should do.
- Call To Action Button Text: The label on the submit button (e.g., "Check My Registration").
In addition to name, email, and address, you can use the options below to further customize your form:

Advanced Settings: Encourage advocates to share more about themselves if they want to, or require them to provide certain details. Company, Title, or Phone number can be marked as optional or required.

Learn how to use Advanced Settings by opening this toggle.
- At the top of the page, click the Settings icon next to the Save and View Action buttons.

- Toggle the required field on or off, depending on your preference.

- Select “Save Settings” to save your progress.
- Set Action Points: the number of points the advocate will receive after they complete this action.
- Address Options: Provide different address formats for your advocates.
- Autocomplete Address?: Adds an address search field that autocompletes as advocates type.
- Verify Address?: Shows the full selected address for the advocate to confirm before submitting.
- Manual Address Entry?: Disables the address search and shows plain text input fields instead.
- Collect Business Information?: Adds company name and title fields.
- Collect Phone Number?: Adds a phone number field.
- Add Custom Fields?: Adds up to 2 custom fields from your account. Select which fields appear in a checklist below the toggle.
- Opt-In Checkbox?: Adds a consent checkbox. When toggled on, an Opt-In Checkbox Text field appears for you to write the consent copy.
- Display Action Goal?: Shows a progress bar toward a submission target you set. You can start the goal counter from 0, or input a custom number.
Use the following options to give advocates the options to set reminders about the election, or change how the elections details are displayed.

- Enable Calendar Invitation — After submitting, advocates can download a calendar reminder for their election date.
- Enable Election Reminder — Advocates can opt in to receive a reminder closer to the election (approximately one week before election day).
- Show Election Details on Same Page — Displays election details on the same page as the registration form instead of showing them as a separate step.
When you're done, click "Launch Voter Action" at the bottom of the page. If you want to save without going live yet, click "Save" in the top-right header — the action will remain in Draft status until you're ready to launch.
📊 Tracking Submissions
After your action is live, click into it from the Vote Campaigns table to see your campaign analytics. The overview tracks:
- Submissions: Total number of advocates who submitted the form.
- Confirms: Advocates who confirmed their registration status after seeing the results.
- Confirmation Rate: The percentage of submissions that resulted in a confirmation.
- Reminders: How many advocates opted in to receive an election reminder.
Each submission is also logged on the individual advocate's profile under Voter Registration, showing the campaign, submission date, and status.
❓ FAQs
What does the advocate see after submitting?
They see their registration status (registered, not registered, or unknown) along with relevant election details — upcoming elections in their area, polling location information, and ballot data. If you've enabled reminders or calendar invitations, those options appear here too.
What's the difference between a Submission and a Confirmation?
A Submission means the advocate entered their information and saw their results. A Confirm means they took the additional step of confirming their registration status within the widget. The Confirmation Rate shows how many submissions converted to confirmations.
What is DistrictMatch?
DistrictMatch uses the address an advocate enters to identify their legislative districts and associated elected officials. Enabling it on a voter registration action means you can later target or segment that advocate based on their district.
Can I run more than one Voter Registration Action at the same time?
Yes. Each action is independent and can target different elections, use different widget copy and colors, and run on different date ranges. All active campaigns appear in the Vote Campaigns table.
